Welcome to Tamwerks.net, a landing page for me, Alex Tam. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Nevada, Reno and I've been working as a full stack software developer (with an emphasis on front-end and UX/UI) for over 15 years. I am not a coding rock star. I consider myself a code custodian since my whole career has revolved around migrating legacy software to a newer tech stack. It's up to me to figure out where to find specific business logic in the old system and make it easier to find and read in the new system. I'm also responsible for telling new hires where to find things in the old and new systems. I've written style guides and best practices documents for a major company to aid developers in developing components for the software. I've volunteered to organize company-sponsored activities for the teams as well as mentoring interns. I have no problems trying to get the data I need by talking to different team members.
